U-14 Girls claim A League Shield

Our U14 Girls won the A League Shield Final this evening in Connolly Park, beating Shamrock Gaels on a score line of 4-5 to 1-3. This was a hard fought win and this showed in the fact that the only score in the first 20 minutes of the game was a goal by Erin Taheny. Our defence, superbly marshalled by Aine Gilligan and goalkeeper, Melissa Kerins did trojan work to keep Shamrock Gaels at bay, while at the other end a goal and a point from Aoife Haran and a point by Sorcha Reddy helped us to a 5 point lead at half time. In the second half, we added further goals from Eimear Kearney and Aoife Haran to run out deserving winners. On the night, there were fantastic performances all around the field. All the defenders were superb, while in midfield, the tireless running of Kelsey O Boyle, Rachel Hanbury and Sorcha Reddy ensured a good supply of ball to the forwards. Our forward line defended from the front and we had 5 scorers on the night. This is a great win for the effort the girls have put in and sets us up nicely for the Championship.
