Notes 13/07/15

  • The club is planning on running a bus to the Connacht Final on Sunday the 19th of July. The bus will leave Collooney at 10.30 in the morning to be in Roscommon in plenty of time for the minor match. It would be great if a large group would travel together to support our County and our own Brian Mahon in the minor final. If interested on travelling on the bus please message this page, call or text Club PRO Gareth Lavin on 086-0302853
  • Massive congratulations to Thomas and Edel Kerins in Canada on the birth of Rian Thomas Kerins.
  • The Men’s senior team defeated Eastern Harps 4-13 to 0-8 to guarantee themselves a place in the Division 3 league final in Connolly Park on Sunday. A good first half performance was enough to secure place in the final where we will play for a coveted place in division 2 for next year. Next up is an away game against St.Marys in Kent Park this Saturday at 7pm.
  • Our U14 Girls won the A League Shield Final last Tuesday in Connolly Park, beating Shamrock Gaels on a score line of 4-5 to 1-3. This was a hard fought win and this showed in the fact that the only score in the first 20 minutes of the game was a goal by Erin Taheny. Our defence, superbly marshalled by Aine Gilligan and goalkeeper, Melissa Kerins did trojan work to keep Shamrock Gaels at bay, while at the other end a goal and a point from Aoife Haran and a point by Sorcha Reddy helped us to a 5 point lead at half time. In the second half, we added further goals from Eimear Kearney and Aoife Haran to run out deserving winners. On the night, there were fantastic performances all around the field. All the defenders were superb, while in midfield, the tireless running of Kelsey O Boyle, Rachel Hanbury and Sorcha Reddy ensured a good supply of ball to the forwards. Our forward line defended from the front and we had 5 scorers on the night. This is a great win for the effort the girls have put in and sets us up nicely for the Championship.
